The Truth About Exercise and Nutrition

How many times have you heard the expression, "Well I worked out today so I deserve a treat!" In most cases the treats are: Chips, chocolate, pizza, and the list could go on and on. Well what is wrong with that?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with treating yourself, the key is with what? Food and desserts should not be the answer. Treat yourself to a new workout top or something as simple as a plant for the house or a movie to watch with the family.

What people don't understand is a large portion of what you are trying to achieve in the gym comes from what you do outside of the gym. 80% of your results is nutrition, 80%! I hear it all the time, "I want a six-pack", well truth be told, another 15 minutes of abdominal exercises is not going to help. Many people have abdominal muscles deep down under the adipose tissue (FAT). Until you lose the adipose tissue, you will never be able to see the six-pack. It's that simple.

Nutrition not only helps with the way you look, but how your body performs and feels. If you want to stop feeling like crap, than stop eating like it. Provide your body with the proper nutrients, vitamins, and minerals it needs to function to its max. You can not expect your car to continually perform at peak performance if you are always fueling it with low-grade fuel.

WHY IS EATING HEALTHY AND STAYING ON TRACK SO HARD?

The truth of the matter is, it comes down to environment and will power. Society makes it challenging for people to eat healthy and say NO to the smell of fried foods and sugary drinks shared amongst friends and family. Life is about balance. No one is perfect; however, if you have poor eating habits, then you have no right to complain about your lack in weight loss. You are what you eat. There are many tips, food journals and specialty diets out there. It's important to find a system that works best for you and is flexible to your lifestyle. Exercise and nutrition is a grey area. Many people have their opinions about what's right and wrong, however, in my experience, there is NO right and wrong. There is more right and more wrong but it truly comes down to what are your goals? what are you trying to accomplish.

WHAT IS THE BEST DIET?

Tricky question. Again, is there a right and wrong? Is one better than the others? Many articles and studies will persuade you to believe one is the "best" and better than the rest. What do I think? Does it truly matter what I personally think? I am just one person. You probably have already made up your mind on what you think works best, so I'm not going to preach to you regarding which one I think is the best. What I want to ask you is? Can human's live off fat and protein? Can humans live off a vegan diet? Can humans live off a Mediterranean diet? Can humans live off what the Nauru people in the South Pacific eat? The answer is YES! The answer is human beings can ADAPT to their environment. We have the power to change our diets to survive. Do I believe that less carbs is a good option? of course, but it doesn't mean they can't be consumed for survival purposes. The point that I'm trying to get across is that, each and every diet has pros and cons. Balance! Find the balance and the diet that works best for you and your lifestyle. If you are not achieving your health and fitness goals, then consult a professional instead of spending hours and hours confusing yourself about what is the absolute best. Remember, what works for one person does not mean it will work for you. Stop trying to compete with super models and fitness models. There is no problem in trying to achieve your goals but they must be realistic. Adobe photo shop is an amazing thing. Find a diet that works best for you and stick to it! I do not recommend the "junk food" diet. Remember, you still are what you eat.

IS EATING HEALTHY ENOUGH?

Is eating healthy enough? With environmental factors like air and water pollution, there are many toxins in everything we eat and touch. Toxins are found everywhere: from the water we drink, to beauty products, to our nutrient deficient crops, and even the air we breath. Many foods have additives, preservatives and chemicals to help maintain the shelf life of the product. Many of our crops are sprayed with chemicals or are genetically modified. This my not seem important but did you know toxins can cause your body to produce extra fat cells to help protect your inner organs from cancer causing free radicals? It's crucial to rid your body of these toxins to maintain optimal health. You can rid your body of these toxins by nutritional cleansing. Nutritional cleanse can be correlated to changing the oil filter in your car. Your car will run smoothly for many kilometers but eventually you will need to get it changed.
